The Mommy Movement Program, Camarillo & Ventura
Active Spine & Sports Care
Did you know a simple ankle sprain may require 4 to 6 weeks of rehabilitation to increase the rate of tissue repair and reduce the risk of other post-injury movement problems? Now consider a woman who is pregnant for roughly 9 months then gives birth to a child in one way or another… and usually receives no recommendation for rehabilitation. That mommy worked hard and hasn’t received complete care after her little one’s birth! The body’s ability to maintain a healthy core is compromised due to the rapid structural changes sustained through pregnancy and childbirth. As a result, it is common for new mothers to experience conditions such as • Low Back Pain, • Sciatica, • Hip Pain, • Upper Back or Rib Pain, • Diastasis Recti • Incontinence
The Mommy Movement Program recognizes that all mothers should consider a post-partum rehabilitation program in order to reactivate and restore optimal core strength and function.
The “Core” is a group of muscles that generates the internal force or pressure required to hold the spine and pelvis in a stable, strong position. Without proper core function and strength, the body develops faulty movement patterns and is at higher risk of repetitive movement injuries.
The Mommy Movement Program is designed to provide these mothers with an individualized, systematic, and progressive way to restore their optimal core strength and function by implementing treatment principles based on diaphragmatic respiration, core neurodevelopment, and movement efficiency.
After Dr. Romeo Dimaano, DC, and his wife, Rhea Dimaano, RN, CLC, a post-partum nurse, certified lactation counselor, and childbirth educator, were blessed with 2 children of their own, they quickly realized the importance of post-partum core rebuilding, in order to return safely and fully to normal activities of daily living, sports, and activity with the new additions to their lives.
Dr. Romeo Dimaano, DC specializes in orthopedics with a focus on movement dysfunction and movement efficiency. Throughout his years of practice, he has undergone additional training at the Prague School of Manual Medicine and Rehabilitation, Postural Restoration Institute, and Functional Movement Systems, which has been one of the driving forces in developing The Mommy Movement Program.
